ArenaNet, NCsoft and the Guild Wars team take part in various industry-related events over the course of every year. But aside from industry events such as E3 and various trade shows, the Guild Wars Team is also directly involved with the fans. This section will share news of some of our fan-related events, contests, and other activities.
Celebrate Three Years of Guild Wars
You’re invited to the party as we celebrate the Guild Wars Third Anniversary! The festivities include a brand new reward after finishing the Hell’s Precipice mission in the original campaign, boardwalk games at the Shing Jea Monastery, and starting April 28, third birthday presents for characters created on this date. Join us for the celebration, starting April 24!
Farewell to Gaile
In recognition of her many years of devoted service to Guild Wars and the Guild Wars community, we’d like to extend an open invitation to all of our fans to join us in a farewell party for our community relations manager, Gaile Gray.
Canthan New Year's Festival
Each year, Canthans flock to Shing Jea Monastery to prepare and partake in a great feast to honor the celestial animal that will watch over them during the coming year. This year’s animal, the Celestial Rat, will descend from the heavens to enjoy Cantha’s culinary delights. If satisfied with the meal, the Celestial Rat will bestow good luck upon the populace for the coming year.
Come to the Costume Brawl!
Join us during the Halloween Festival for some ghoulish fun in the first-ever annual Guild Wars Costume Brawl! Fight in the guise of famous characters from the Guild Wars story, using that character’s custom set of skills!
Halloween 2007 Event: The Mad King Returns (Again)
Once again, the maniacal monarch has decided to grace both cities with his ghastly presence and will reward his loyal subjects (and party participants) with prizes and a special Halloween gift.
Dragon Festival Redux—August 2007
All who attended last year’s Dragon Festival recall a mixture of merriment and terror dominating the weekend. The annual festival, which celebrates the rise of the Dragon Empire from the ashes of the Jade Wind, was beset by demons—harbingers of Nightfall—who threatened to cast the empire back into chaos in the name of their lord, Abaddon.

Canthan New Year's Festival
The Canthan New Year’s Festival event begins at 20:00 GMT (21:00 CET) on Friday, February 16, 2007 and will run all weekend, ending at 20:00 GMT (21:00 CET) on Monday, February 19, 2007. On Sunday, February 18, the Celestial Pig will drop from the sky into Shing Jea Monastery every three hours to sample Canthan delicacies. The feast culminates in dancing, fireworks, and the showering of the populace with gifts...but only if the celestial enjoys its meal.
Community Day at ArenaNet
On Friday, January 26, 2007, representatives from six of our Elite Fansites visited ArenaNet to take a studio tour, meet the development team, and spend some time socializing with the gang! Before that there was dinner with a Polynesian theme, and after that, a tour of two key spots in Seattle and a trip to the top of the Space Needle.
Wintersday 2006 Event: Annual Battle between Grenth and Dwayna
Wintersday is almost upon us. That time of the year when the gods Dwayna and Grenth fight over who will control the weather during the coming months. Will Grenth have his way and plunge the world into eternal winter or will Dwayna be able to melt enough hearts to bring about an early thaw? You will have the final say as the gods vie for your vote during the grand finale.
Halloween 2006 Event: Return of the (Mad) King
This is a multi-day affair, beginning with certain unsettling events, and culminating with a return visit by a certain well-loved (and semi-feared) maniacal monarch on Halloween itself.

The Guild Wars Nightfall World Preview Event opened on September 22 2006 and closed on September 25 2006.
