Guild Wars Winter Party Contest – Here are the lucky winners!

We asked you to put us in a festive mood - and so you did! In fact, we received so many entries to our contests that it was tough to decide who was going to win. But after lots of discussion (and dragging various people in the office in front of our PC's to get their opinion), we are glad to announce the winners of our Creative Contest, as well as the lucky recipients of an invitation to our Guild Wars Event on February 3rd in Brighton.

We here at NCsoft Europe love a good party, and we know you do too. The only thing to be done about that, of course, is to throw a big party! We'd love to invite everyone, however we simply do not have enough space. So instead, you're going to have to show us why we should invite YOU to come and join in the fun. If you are willing to pay your own expenses to attend the party, read below for details on how you can win one of the limited number of invitations.

Of course we'd never think of excluding those of you who can't make it from the fun, so we're running two Winter Party Contests in tandem. You're welcome to enter either, or even both, of these contests: "Creative Winter Party Contest" and / or "Winter Party Invitation Contest." Each contest has a separate prize pool (see below). So, how do you enter?

To enter the "Creative Winter Party Contest"

Get your creative hat on and show us your inner party animal. Using the creative medium of your choice (for example a poem, prose, artwork, comic) put us in the mood for a Guild Wars themed party. Craft us an invitation to our own party, design a Guild Wars party game or design a suit of clown armour for an NPC. Your imagination is the limit! First prize includes one amazing limited edition Guild Wars iPod Nano and ZBoard™ keyboard with Factions keyset, while 2nd through 4th prizes include a ZBoard™ keyboard with Factions keyset. The ten best entries will all receive a Nightfall cap and shirt.

To enter the "Winter Party Invitation Contest"

Email us a statement of no more than 50 words, telling us why you think you should be chosen to receive one of the limited number of invitations. We have twenty-five (25) invitations for you and one (1) guest to attend the party to be held in Brighton, United Kingdom, on Saturday, 3rd February 2007. You'll be able to indulge yourself in a variety of Guild Wars activities and vie with your fellow guests to win some fantastic prizes, including a fantastic limited edition Guild Wars branded iPod Nano!

You must include the following with your statement:
In order for us to be assured that you will handle all transportation and accommodation needs that you may have, please include this statement in your entry: "I understand that if I am a winner in the Guild Wars Winter Party Contest I will receive only an invitation for myself and one guest to the party on February 3rd 2007. I understand that all travel and other related expenses will be my sole responsibility, or the responsibility of myself and my guest." Note: Only entries with this confirmation will be sent on to judging.

How to Enter the Contests

There is a restriction of one entry per person per contest. If you enter both contests you may include them in the same email or post, with each clearly marked. There are two ways to submit your entry or entries:

Send an email to with the subject line “Winter Party Contest” and include the following information in the body of the email:

  • Your real name (first/last).

  • The specific contest(s) you are entering.

  • Your full mailing address (including street number and name, city, county/province, postal code and country).

  • Preferred email address where we can notify you, should you be a winner.

  • Your contest entry. This can be text only or attached as a JPEG image (max 500Kb).

  • Indicate your published name preference (in the event you are cited as a winner or honourable mention): real name or pseudonym. If you prefer that we list you by a pseudonym, please provide that name and clearly indicate that preference in your entry email.

Print your contest entry on a sheet of paper no larger than 8.5 by 11 inches or 210×297 mm, and submit to:

Official Rules and Conditions

  • One entry per person per contest.

  • Originality: Entries must be the creation of the contestant and cannot be taken from any other source. Your submission must not infringe on any patent, copyright, trademark or other intellectual property right, or any privacy, publicity or publishing rights of any third party, or is libellous, obscene or otherwise contrary to law.

  • Deadline: All entries must be received by Thursday, 14th December, 2006. Posted entries should be postmarked no later than Monday, 11th December, 2006.

  • Eligibility (age): All entrants to the "Winter Party Invitation Contest" must be 18 years of age or older. All entrants to the "Creative Winter Party Contest" must be 18 years of age or older, or have a parent or guardian enter in the minor's name.

  • Eligibility (exclusions): Employees of ArenaNet Inc., NCsoft Europe Ltd. and NCsoft Corporation (collectively, "Sponsor"), and each of their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, representatives, advertising, promotion and publicity agencies and members of the immediate families (defined as parents, children, siblings and spouse, regardless of where they reside) or households of such employees are not eligible.

  • Eligibility (location): Entries will be accepted from residents of Europe.

  • Prizes: Prizes will be awarded as listed below for the "Creative Winter Party Contest"

    Prizes will be awarded as listed below for the "Winter Party Invitation Contest"
    1. Up to twenty-five (25) invitations will be issued to entrants who indicate they wish to attend the NCsoft Europe Winter Party. Each invitation is for the winner and one (1) guest.

  • Judging: Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, style, originality and presentation. The winner will be notified via email and announced on the Guild Wars websites along with their winning concept no later than Wednesday, 20th December, 2006. Judges will be comprised of members of NCsoft Europe staff. The decisions of the judges will be final.

  • By entering the Guild Wars “Winter Party Contest”, (a) you agree to all of the terms and conditions of these Official rules and conditions, (b) you warrant that your entry is your own original work and that it does not violate any rights of any third party, (c) you assign and agree to assign to NCsoft Europe Ltd. all rights, title and interest, including, without limitation, copyright, in or to your entry, and (d) if required in your country of residence, you will sign a release giving rights for the work to NCsoft Europe Ltd.. Entries become the property of NCsoft Europe Ltd. and will not be returned.

  • NCsoft Europe Ltd. collects personal information from you when you enter this contest. This information is subject to the Privacy Policy of the site through which you entered this contest.
