Factions World Championship
GWFC Points Update
The Guild Wars Factions Championship ("GWFC") series is a set of online events that culminates in an international tournament offering $100,000 in cash, earned trips, and other great prizes for the top five finishing guilds and the winner of the Guild Wars Factions Open Event. The finals of the tournament series will take place at the Games Convention (GC) in Leipzig, Germany, which is scheduled to take place on August 24 through 27, 2006. Like the Guild Wars World Championship event held in February in Taipei, Taiwan, the guilds invited to the Guild Wars Factions Championship will compete for those fantastic prizes in front of a live audience right on the show floor.
The GWFC series consists of three seasons held throughout the first half of 2006, each of which culminates in single elimination playoffs between the top 16 ranked guilds. As outlined in the GWFC Rules, guilds will earn GWFC Points based upon how they rank within their region at the end of each season as well as how they finish in the playoffs.
There are currently five recognized Guild Wars regions. They are the American Region, European Region, Korean Region, Japanese Region, and Taiwanese Region. Other regions may be added in the future.
At the end of the third season of the GWFC series, the five guilds with the highest number of GWFC Points—with a maximum of 2 guilds from any specific region—will have earned an invitation to compete in the Guild Wars Factions Championship. A sixth guild will be invited through the Guild Wars Factions Open Event, details of which will be provided at a later date.
